Anyone had to return an eBay item that failed to slab or authenticate?

OK, so rare-ish autographed card I need popped up on ebay and ends in 3 days. I already got a Likely Genuine response from PSA/DNA QO. This would be a big purchase for me (a couple hundred), so it would go straight to PSA/DNA the same day I get it in hand.
I read the eBay policy on Autographs and it basically says 'Only list stuff you know is real'. So helpful.

So, assuming I get the card, and PSA/DNA fails it, would the eBay Buyer Protection force the seller to accept a return? He states no returns and isn't a regular seller on eBay.

I will pay with CC to ensure that additional protection, but am curious if it I'd have any recourse if it fails. Would eBay make the seller accept a return within the 45 day window?
Thanks

Has to be within 45 calendar days within when the ebay item sold and the description of the item needs to include something along the lines that the item is authentic. This happened a couple of times before to me, and I was able to get my money back although there was a bit of stress involved both times. One time ebay ruled against me to my shock, but I was able to call them and talk to a supervisor who reversed the decision.

I suggest posting the image of the item before you pay, put all those thousands of online eyeballs to use.

easy enough to seach the description....but I would say the card being from overseas and a no return policy would make it hard for you to have recourse if it comes back NG.

I think you should just message the seller on ebay and ask if they guarantee authenticity for it. if that message is stored on ebay's server, I think that should be sufficient if it comes back Not Genuine and you have to open a dispute.

Non-sport item, fewer trained eyes, but might consider it.

Yea, but I always hear people saying that that the 'No Returns' is easily sidetracked thanks to PP.

Never, I repeat, Never, buy an autograph from anyone who states "No Returns"...UNLESS you are willing to assume the risk and/or the aggravation of going through the process of getting your money back.

Returning a package with tracking overseas is OK most of the time as long as you don't mind eating the cost.

I almost got screwed by Ebay's 45 day policy. I bought an autographed photo I was pretty confident was authentic. Asked the seller ahead of time his policy in regards to 3rd party authentication. No response. I bought it anyway, sent it to PSA where I promptly forgot about it. One day it dawns on me I had never received a confirmation from PSA that they ever got it, so I logged in to find it was already on the way back and had failed, again with no confirmation. This took place on day 43. Unfortunately I was finding this out on Day 46! My own carelessness was compounded by PSA failing to send out email confirmations involving receiving and shipping. Well I contacted Ebay and of course they told me I was outside the 45 day policy, and legally there was nothing they could do blah, blah, blah. They didn't care that they were allowing a forger to conduct business. Of course I got no response from the seller, even after I "nagged" him. Luckily, I ALWAYS use Paypal through a credit card, and Visa backed me up and I got a refund. But there is still more to this story. Paypal actually emailed me to discourage me from going to my credit card company, and recommended I go through the resolution process (Why? So I could lose???). And, the photo passed with Jimmy Spence......
