OT: Replacements reuniting this summer

In high school I had a 1980 Topps Bob Stinson card taped to a folder. Classmates would ask, "Who's that?" and I would say, "That's Bob Stinson. The guitarist for the Replacements." and they'd say, "That guy's not in the Replacements." and I'd say, "He isn't?"

Now they are back together and I find myself absolutely giddy. I remember seeing them breakup on stage in Grant Park on July 4, 1991. During "Within Your Reach" Westy sang, "Never seen the Sox go/26 and 0" during the "never seen no mountain" part. Me neither.

It's off topic, but some here are rock fans. Just figured I'd share.

Go Blackhawks.

Was at that Replacements July 4th show too. Wasn't that during Taste Of Chicago in Grant Park? Saw they were getting the band back together for three shows, hope to catch the one in Chicago.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

I heard this today and also saw the concerts will be in Humboldt Park in Chicago, an area not known to be the safest. My dad grew up there decades ago and I have had the opportunity to go through there on numerous occasions but it can be a tough place to be if you don't know where you are going. Great area but like I said...not one of the safest in the city.
I am on a budget and I am not afraid to use it!!

Dan - I don't live too far from Humboldt Park and am with you on the safety. Fortunately I will be departing with at least 3000 others and expect we will hoof it as a herd until cabs start to surface which will get me home in about 3 miles. They did the Guiness Fleadh out at some Speedway in Cicero years ago and it was supremely pleasant with easy ins and outs. Why not there? My guess is they are getting a heck of a deal on the space with minimal flak from the local alderman as the music will drown out the sound of gunfire. But I agree with you. Someone should warn the out of towners to beware where the sneak out to light up.

Bbuckner - that was Grant Park with Material Issue opening. I came to them fairly light seeing them open up for Tom Petty at Poplar Creek for my first gig when they were supporting "Don't Tell a Soul". Missed all the stuff of legend. If they could get Mars to commit on drums and maybe Dan Murphy on lead I would be a happy man.

The Replacements were so impactful to their fans that if they were to make cards of them back in the day, no one would sell the gum or wrapper sets, no way.

I hope they will play a gig or 2 in mpls or Saint Paul

so long as your syndicate isn't looking to impede on the rival latin gang/narcotic trade, Humboldt isn't that bad. Englewood considers it the suburbs.

I'd choose a Hüsker Dü reformation over the Mats, but as long as their Warner era years have been erased via absinthe from their set-list, I won't complain.
