Your thoughts on a review...

Let me start by saying, I have this card in a PSA 10 and its a POP 1. I have been offered $1500 for it in the past but it is part of my registry set.
If I were to send these in for a review and get another PSA 10, how much would this effect the price being a pop 2 on this card if at all and where I would own both?
These are both very very strong 9's and on the right day, can see them in 10 holders

(spots on the bottom card is from the scanner, spots are not on the card)

Tom, the one on top looks nicer to me, but I would send both of them in hoping that they give one of them the bump. I don't think the price would move much since you have the only other PSA 10...think OPEC. image

    Supply & Demand

In either case, you'll be the holder of 100% of the available supply... demand is theoretically unchanged... those in the demand part of the equation can throw reasons at you all day, but when it's all said and done, you set the price!

They both look really nice to me, and would agree with Mike and send them both in to hopefully get the bump on one. Even if you don't, I would jump on that $1,500 offer for your 10 and replace it with one of these!

The 10 has been the highlight of my set. The smart move would be to sell it and hope that 1 of these cross. If I do sell and 1 doesnt cross, I think I will be kicking myself because the set just wouldnt look the same without it, even with 70 something other 10's.

Seems obvious you would have regrets if you sold it and neither of the others got a 10, so don't sell one UNTIL you have two 10's.

Your buyer MIGHT want to give you less for a 1 of 2 than a 1 of 1, but then again he might not.

    Super nice cards!!!!

In my opinion, the price of the POP 1 PSA 10 (which becomes a POP 2 or POP 3 after your review) would reduce significantly. It will mean nothing to a potential buyer that you have both (or all 3) copies of it.

    Sell first, reviews later.

Agree with Nick. An increase in the pop no matter where yhe cards reside will significantly lower the value of a 1/1 card, maybe by half.

That was the right call, Tom. It would be crazy to pass up that kind of money for a 1977 opc card no matter how scarce it is!

I agree, that is a lot of cash to pass up plus think you have a good shot at one of them getting a bump. Looking forward to the review bump thread. image

What's amazing is that I had 2 buyers at that price

That was a smart move because sooner or later it will no longer be a pop. one.

With 2 buyers at $1500, that's when you put the card in an auction with a $1500 minimum bid and let them fight it out.

There's nothing greedy about using the auction format.

    I don't think I did.

Even if it sells at $1600 it still works out to less minus 13%

    I'm clearing the full $1500

Highlight - yes but I made the right move. Plus I'm very confident 1 of my 9's will cross.

    Nice job image

I don't think you would get much higher in auction. Some of the highest realized prices are ones made in private transactions.

hmmm. seems to me, by assumption, that your margin for this transaction would be enough to cover grading fees for at least a couple hundred other cards.

    that can't be bad.

Lets just say the highest non qualifier grade is a PSA 6 right now. I sent 2 in and hope to be getting 8's/9's!

I will let you know what it is when they get back from PSA.

    they are NOT o-pee-chee!

Its a Topps issue and didnt realize that not only are they difficult to find, but most come offcut and with very bad rough cuts!
Another issue is that the size of the cards vary hope I dont get hit with any minisize

moving the PSA 10 was a no brainer imo.

i consider myself to be an O-Pee-Chee Baseball fan and collector. That being said, i can also admit that there simply is not enough hobby "love" for them. will that change in the future? who the heck knows. Tom selling the PSA 10 was the right thing to do. Is it a 1/1? sure, at the moment. and even if your 9s dont bump, at the end of the day it is still a 1/1, but one that is of a brand that is not mainstream.

Now, if this were a 1977 TOPPS PSA 10 1/1, that would be a different story
