Using PayPal at the National?

This August will be my first trip to the National and I have been saving money monthly for cardboard by adding it to my PayPal balance and I have been wondering how I will access that money while in Chicago.

My questions are:
1. I plan on getting a '52 Bowman Musial, a '55 Topps Aaron, and other things while in Chicago and I didn't want have to carry that much cash. Do the majority of dealers except PayPal gift on the spot for purchases?

2. If the answer to the above question is no, what would be the best way to take money out of my PayPal balance (in order to have cash at the National) without having to incur fees?

Thank you for your help,

Paul

Nobody I saw accepted Paypal, but I wasn't asking every table, either.

At a show like this, on the spot cash talks. You'll get more favorable terms for sure. Better terms, plus no fees to worry about. Depending on who you bank with, if they have a branch nearby, you can always withdraw cash there when you need it.

I think PayPal has a debit card. I would order one if you can and then just hit the ATM.

    Thank you for the advice.

I was hoping that many of the dealers would actually rather not have to handle cash, but instead take a no-fee gift, but it looks like I'll be getting a PayPal ATM card.

If he has internet on his phone and you have it on your phone you could just send paypal gift there.

That's what I thought. Seemed easy enough, but I'm assuming that some of the old school dealers might not be that up to date.

HA HA I remember that Kirk, I thought it was funny as hell the guy had a fanny pack!

Edit to add: I know some of the high end dealers (I.E. Card Country, Dave Kleppel, BBCE, etc, etc....) have the ability to accept credit card payment from there phones through apps such as SQUARE. Additionally, I made a paypal payment to Kurt Koltrane (Kurts Kards) at the show last year. Many of these guys have computers, and if you have a phone, you can pay via paypal just download the paypal app to your phone.

Does a PayPal ATM card have a daily limit at a ATM machine? For instance my ATM card allows only $500 a day at a ATM machine. No limit if I go into the bank and see a teller.

This would be my concern with using an ATM on-site. I recommend downloading the Paypal app on your phone. If I recall, I think Paypal limits withdraws to 400.00 per day via ATM.

So I guess it brings me back to my 2nd question: is there a way to take all my money out of my Paypal balance and put it either in my personal bank account or just cash it out without incurring fees?

Confirmed! I will be accepting Paypal at National (but only in gift form as Ebay deserves NO FEES for these transactions). Also CC, cash, trade, etc. However, I haven't quit my day job yet so I can't claim the title of "dealer" just yet...only exhibitor.

I have a Paypal debit card and there is a $400 limit/day. You can easily transfer the funds to your personal bank account on the Paypal site.

Yes. When you are in the paypal system, hit the withdraw tab or withdrawal tab (don't remember the exact language), and make your choice how you want it. They can either transfer it to your bank account, or cut you a check and mail it to you.

There's a $400 daily ATM cash limit. But you can use it as a debit card (credit card) up to $3000/day. So if the dealer takes CC's, you can use it that way.

But if you're looking for the best deal, as mentioned, cash is the way to go.
