Which is the better 1954 Hank Aaron RC (Mine or the Probstein)

On Sunday I purchased the Aaron (PSA 3) below for $525. I would just like your opinion on which is the better Aaron the one I purchased or the one Probstein sold tonight.

Here is the Probstein that sold tonight. The back of the card has a crease on the top left corner.

  • I also like the fact that since the Aaron I purchased was graded before the .5 perhaps I can get a favorable review and get a bump to 3.5 which would make the purchase much better. The Probstein Aaron card tonight is at $515 and will probably end higher, but I don't think its better than the Aaron I bought this past Sunday.

IMHO I'd give a slight edge to the Probstein one. Yours has a slight tilt and the top right corner. The Probstein one has a rough cut border on the right but that really doesn't bother me. Congrats on your purchase.

SBTom I prefer the one you purchased. Better eye appeal to me.

I'd prefer yours, buddy-- LR centering does it for my eye, so you got it.

Yours obviously has a tilt and, unless it is the scan, poorer registration.

The one Rick has is obviously OC with an OPCesque right border.

But it's a trick question. The better Aaron is the one Bobby sold in the same grade for way less than VCP (sorry Bobby, I couldn't resist). image

Any Hammerin' Hank rookie is awesome.... congrats on the purchase and enjoy!

SBTom only because of the centering. Both a great cards of Hammern' Hank.

Currently collecting 1934 Butterfinger, 1969 Nabisco, 1991 Topps Desert Shield (in PSA 9 or 10), and 1990 Donruss Learning Series (in PSA 10).
  • Both of them are very nice 3's.
  • No offence to anyone, but I like the Shoebox Tom's card because the centering. Great eye appeal. They are both nice cards, though!!!
Been collecting on and off from 1982. Football is my favorite, although, I do like baseball. Always looking for 1984 Topps and 1989 Score Football PSA 10's.
  • Thanks guys for voting. The final count was 5 votes for my card (including Probstein himself lol) and 2 votes for the Probstein card with one push. Interesting that the Probstein card sold for $60 more dollars than the card I purchased. One last question is there any chance I can get a 1/2 point bump to a 3.5 Aaron considering the card was originally graded before the 1/2 point grading started.

I'll vote for Tom's. I'd rather have the slight tilt over the centering. Nice card.

    Thanks,
