Walter Payton autograph cards?

This can expand into a general discussion about Walter Payton autograph cards, but there is one in particular I have a question about: the 1992 Upper Deck Heroes autograph. It's an illustration, and numbered to 2,800. Many of the autographs seem to be faded. Not all of the ones I've seen listed will include a scan of the back of the card. Should all of the autographs have a hologram on the back? Were all 2,800 inserted in packs, or were others sold by Upper Deck separately? I've seen some that come in a display, with a COA, as thought it were sold by UDA, rather than in a pack.
I would like to pick up a Payton autograph (or two) at some point. I think I have a pretty good idea of what is out there, and the prices. For example, I won't go near the Pro Line autographs (seem to easy to counterfeit), and there are others that would sell for more than I am willing to pay. Are there any other collectors? Or does anyone else have any comments on Payton items?

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
