2013 Kookaburra Silver 1 oz coin availability

I read that the Perth mint will limit the 1 oz silver Kookaburras to one million coins. Has everything been produced and distributed already?

My main goal is to buy a few from Goldmart since they have the lowest prices but have been out of stock for awhile. I am not sure if the Perth Mint is going to send them more.

Where else can I get fresh kookaburras that have not been handled by opening the capsule? I do not want to buy from one time private sellers on ebay for this reason. A dealer that sells these from a "monster box" is what I am looking for.

Provident has them listed as available.
  • Modern coin mart has them for $35 no shipping cost.

Yes, MCM has them, but that is such a high premium.

Provident has a much better deal and that is who I am working with right now for an order. I hope their product is just as clean as MCM. I even called them up to tell them in advance what I expect and the customer service guy told that once I am ready with my final order, to call him back so he could personally see I get the best coins.

Thanks for the input to both of you. It really helped me out!

they cut the mintage back to 500k about 6 weeks ago and declared them 97% soldout at that time. then sold out later that day.
It was just after the drop so alot of big US dealers had orders coming in but then raised premiums significantly. Providents premium was at "as low as 3.99 over" then 2 hrs later to 4.49 then a few more hrs and "any quantity only 7.99 over spot". I know this because I was gonna order that day when I got home, but not at that premium. Provident should be able to provide you with quality coins, they got about 6k in right at the end and if you order 20 you will probably get a full "roll" or 100 should get you a mint strapped box. If for some reason they cannot, send me a PM I stocked up on some boxes from another source later that day.
    good luck

    Nick,

Thank you for the offer (I will let you know). Right now I just wrapped up my order with Provident. I got a few kookaburras. The premium is so high that I only want a few so that I have the issue of 2013. There are cheaper ways to stock up on quality silver coins such as the philharmonics, eagles, maple leafs and Armenia's Noah's Ark.

Provident also has older kooks available with an even higher premium. It seems like the Pandas and kooks are bullion coins with some numismatic characteristics and appeal.

Is a million - or 500k - really considered "limited" image

I wonder how many Kookaburra collectors there are in the world. If I had to guess, I'd say less than a million.

There is not going to be one kook per person. I doubt there are even 500,000 kook collectors out there. People who buy kooks hoard them or at least buy more than one.

All I know now is that the kooks are all sold out from the Perth Mint. Investors and collectors all over the world have an interest in kooks. There is not enough to go around.

Dealers buy them in bulk to resell. That doesn't mean "there is not enough to go around." I can't remember the last time I bought something direct from a mint as an end consumer.
