1979 O-Pee-Chee Gretzky Authenticity

Tom's 1973 OPC Lopes Gem Mint 10 got me thinking about the OPC rough cuts and how the 1979 OPC hockey has one edge that is rough cut. I came across this example and I want to be sure my assessment that the case has been compromised is spot on. The top left pin appears to be heavily frosted along with a large crack in the case on the back just below it. I have a Gretzky myself and I compared the two and the spot on his left shoulder should be yellow, where as the one on the listing is white. Also, the rough cut is nonexistent, which is possible, but I would find it hard to believe with the centering and corners being that nice it would garner a 7.

No blue print lines on the reverse running parallel by the puck next to the hockey player....

I think that is a telltale sign if not mistaken.

That ebay holder has definately been cracked open and the card replaced.

Your card looks to be very bumpable, wouldn't be out of place in an 8 holder IMO.

Only the 1st print run had the blue lines, there are plenty of good ones without them. The yellow shoulder dot is on ALL authentic versions.

Most definately off. In fact a dash is missing between Pee and Chee.

Wow, I was focused on the card and missed that glaring mistake!

    Beat me to it

It is a shame someone is going to get taken if the sale goes through. One cannot speak enough of the value of visiting the boards and gaining so much insight into collecting. Without the assistance of the knowledge base here, I would have been one of the ones taken for a ride.

Maybe a PSA moderator or an employee of PSA will see this thread and report it to ebay, afterall they have a brand to protect.

EDIT: I have reported it to ebay as a counterfeit, in a compromised holder with a bad serial #.

6 hours left to go on this junk. I reported it also similar to gameused.

And the people at PSA will allow someone to get taken for $500+ and not bother to protect their brand?

It seems that using the PSA logo etc. on a FAKE FLIP is perfectly OK? I guess I'll start filling Coke bottles with rain water and try selling them as genuine Coke.
