A Couple of Cobbs...

I find myself going older and older in the cards that I collect. For me, the Turkey Reds are the most visually appealing cards ever produced, and I find the Cobb pose on this card so striking in its elegance. The T206 Cobb Green Portrait is one that I've hunted for a while in high grade with good centering. Finally found one recently on REA. I like the visual appeal of these cards, the player on the card, their (relative) rarity, and the history behind the sets. Sometimes I wonder if I should share such cards on the board, but then I know how much I like seeing others people's cards and like to every now and then share one or two of my own. Thanks for indulging me a little and see many of you at National! image

Great cards, Dan! You can't go wrong with Cobbs. I have always been fond of the Green t206 portrait and the example you picked up is top notch. Congrats!

Dan, awesome cards. I think the T3 Turkey Reds are some of the most beautiful cards ever made. I have been chomping at the bit to buy one lately.

BTW, please don't stop showing your pick-up's......99.9% of the guys on the boards love it when you do......don't let a couple of DB's ruin it for you.

I would get those relabeled without the distracting "Cabinets - Checklist Back" & "Portrait - Green" pedigrees. image

Awesome additions, Dan, you have been going on a tear lately with iconic cards!

Beautiful Turkey Red! I love the vibrant colors on those cards. Two great cards of one of the greatest players ever

Keep posting the pickups, they are fun to see. I enjoy seeing everything from modern packs to T206 Wagners. In a community of collectors, you should be able to post any relevant additions, and be proud to show them.

Rea shipped for free, but I'll be damned if they shipped using clear tape.

    No soup for them.

Awesome cards! Thanks for sharing I love seeing cards like this.
  • I may not comment on every single card that people share but that doesn't mean I don't like seeing them. And that green Cobb is freakin awesome.

  • That Turkey Red is unreal. I find it amazing that cards that nice were being made 100 years ago, we really haven't come all that far in card design.
  • great pickups!! Love the T3's.

Always great to see scans of awesome cards-- and those two qualify in any grade. Two specimens right there.

Dan those are incredible and two card on my top 5 list. 1968 Topps 3D Clemente, 1952 Mantle and 1954 Wilson Weiner Williams. By chance do you have these as well?

  • Great pick ups Dan. I had my eye (and a few bids) on that T3 Cobb. It is really nice but just went higher than I wanted to go. For my type collection I will definitely, eventually have a T3 Cobb. Your Green T206 Cobb is really nice and well centered too. The Young portrait looks similar and I have that instead of the green Cobb. But eventually, my type set will own a similar T3 to yours.

Dan with those two spectacular cards and especially the green portrait you should start your own club!!!! You might have to get the portrait reviewed, that looks better then the grade that was given.

Perhaps the mods finally told s/he to stop dumping on other people's pick ups. They need to add "no jealous fits" to the rules list.
