Why has the George Bush card dropped so dramatically ?

I thought I read that BBCE gave one away at the national, and it was worth around 6k at the time ???
Maybe I'm wrong and do not remember correctly.

This one sold for much less recently

and now BBCE has another one up for auction that is on the cheap

I think there have been more for sale / auction in the last eighteen months than in the entire decade prior to that. It's a supply vs. demand thing, and there has been a huge supply side shock to the market.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

That is an amazing photo, and would be awesome to have autographed by the president.

if you want one of those, do a google search for a guy named Patrick Van Tiem. He got a nice scoop years back when former President Bush agreed to do a private signing with him. (Bush's fee goes to charity). Patrick is a good guy and over the years he has done a couple more signings with George. At one point in the last few years, for the first time, Bush opened it up for people's personal items through Patrick rather then the items he usually signed for Patrick (baseballs, jerseys, Ruth photos, etc)

Anyways, if you want one of those, google Patrick, I bet he has some available. Tell him his old customer sent ya image

I think it's important to note that only 38 have been graded by PSA. I believe this card still has a lot of upside if the print run was truly as limited as many think. It's been stated that around 100 were printed. I would think that if 38 have been graded there are likely more than 100 but it's hard to say how many more. Unless someone has a large quantity tucked away and slowly releases them to the market, I see the card gaining momentum with it's rarity.

Yep, that's him. Just as an FYI, the Patrick that I knew would willingly negotiate prices, especially when items had become stagnant. His discounts were quite aggressive back in the day when he needed to move something. Don't know about now that he has hit the big time LOL image

    Thenextlevel1,

Do you have any more information on "the find" of these cards? I would be very interested in hearing more!

I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !
  • I think we all can fall prey to the "rare" label placed on current card productions.
We want to believe it because it makes us feel better about our hobby. It adds to the excitement of finding and
acquiring something that is truly rare. However, we also have to be mindful that there are many people ready to make a
profit on our shortcomings, and know how to profit on our weaknesses.
