Ken Potter?
Has anyone seen/heard of Ken recently? I know he hasn't been well as of late. I (snail) mailed him a picture of a half dime I was wondering about. Thanks for any knowing of his abouts.

<< <i>This july will be three years he requested to see one of my coins ( I got the emails) I sent it, and never heard back from him let alone has he had the decency despite his problems to even return the $500 coin despite calls, letters and follow up emails. So I do not recommend anyone sending him coins at this time for any reason.

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.April 20013 -- Noted error-variety coin columnist and author, Ken Potter, will be attending the Michigan State Numismatic Society Spring Convention on Friday April 19 through Sunday April 21 2013, where he will be offering free error-variety coin examination services. He will also have coinage dies, hubs, collars, punches and other tooling used in the minting process for a hands-on examination. Many of the dies will show errors such as clashed dies, cuds, shattered dies, doubled dies, etc.
Potter will also be offering macro and photomicrography services at reasonable cost and will be offering autographed copies of his latest book, Strike It Rich With Pocket Change 3rd Edition that he coauthored with Dr. Brian Allen along with copies of the latest Cherrypickers' Guide To Rare Die Varieties, by Bill Fivaz and J.T. Stanton, which as editor, he will also autograph.
Application forms for membership in the Combined Organizations of Numismatic Error Collectors of America along with sample copies of their journal will be available.
Potter asks persons who intend to bring coins for an opinion to limit themselves to about five coins per person. He stated, "We may be able to fudge a bit on the five-coin rule but we cannot render opinions on boxes containing hundreds of coins.”
The Michigan State Numismatic Society Spring Convention the Adoba of Dearborn, MI (formally The Hyatt). Directions, show times, and the convention show program can be found here >>> MSNS Spring Show
The feature attraction of this show is the wide variety of dealers including most from outside the metro area from all around the country. This offers an opportunity for local dealers and collectors to pick through fresh inventories.
A majority of this show's dealers own shops or attend larger regional and national shows, are well established, offer nice inventories and are known for fair dealing. This is one of the Great Lakes area's largest, exclusively numismatic shows with over 150 tables with dealers who buy, sell and trade US, Canadian, worldwide (including everything from ancient, medieval and modern); gold, silver, paper, bullion and collector coins.
Hoard the keys.
I'm still waiting to receive my Minnesota DDR-004 in the Philadelphia satin finish mint set back. Hopefully he'll go way back and catch up on things.

If you sent it with Delivery Confirmation, if it were me, I'd make a call to his local police department and see if you can get them to pay him a visit.

^^^^Are you kidding? No cop would get involved. "Oh, but officer I have a delivery confirmation". LMAO.

But, if he's not replying to emails I expect he's not browsing the PCGS Coin Forums either.

Not necessarily. It depends upon how your inbox is set up.
Personally, given his health issues, I'd refrain from "disrespecting" him since he obviously cannot reply.

Perhaps the prosecutors office may be interested but that may take a full parade of those persons who sent off their coins and did not get them back.
I think the better route is to find a lawyer to take the case pro bono

A forum member sold of some stuff because he was on hard times. took the money and disappeared from the forum.
Six months later I get a bug up my a$$ and ask my local police what I can do. Mind you I only had printouts of his
"auctions". My police department let me file a report. I posted it on the forum and suddenly a week later I received
my cash in an envelope and a little extra for my trouble. The part that surprised me was my police dept. calling me
a couple weeks later asking if I wanted them to "reach out to the Indiana police dept. so they could pay him a visit."

Libel would mean the statements made here are false. Ken has always been notoriously slow about turning around attributions and replying to correspondence, I'm sure his recent illness and move have only exacerbated the problem.

He also seems to have time to write up articles for Coin World.
Maybe you should contact Coin World and ask for help.
