Question about eBay bid strategy

I was looking at an eBay bid history of a card and noticed that one person had put in like 7 bids simoultanesly, each bid increased by about 2 dollars.
Im just curious, what is the strategy or idea behind this bidding? Is this considered schilling?
Any info would be appreciated.

its often to try to find the exact amount that the current high bidder has bid

By simultaneously, I assume you mean one right after another. Could be shilling, and he doesn't want to bid too high above current high bidder, or could be he is just trying to find out the high bid.

Did bidder in question stop bidding before they became high bidder?

People play a lot of bidding games on ebay. When someone bids like this they should NOT be allowed to retract their last bid. Actually retractions should never be allowed, but that's another thread.
