Thanks!

Thanks for hanging in there while the system was down.
It was weird wasn't it?!
What happened was that we did a major transplant, or something like that. Our IT department had to disconnect, move and reconnect all our servers, communications equipment, a god knows what else to a co-location facility. It our first big step towards operating all our systems in "The Cloud". With offices all around the world this has become a necessity for PCGS.
We are back without breaking anything (that we know of). If you spot something PM me or post it here.
OK kids, have fun!

I still don't understand "The Cloud". But I guess that's OK.

It sounds like a migration, nothing mentioned about upgrades.

Welcome back to the web/cloud - it was a trying experience but looks like you pulled it off.
It's a little fuzzy but look at it this way. If you need to edit a file...maybe a family tree or a presentation document...you used to need the application (Excel, Power Point, etc.), and the data (the text or the spreadsheet info) on your device. Only you managed it.
If it's all on a shared resource (the cloud) you don't need the application and data locally. You can get to it with any device. And, depending on how it is secured, everyone has access to it.
Or something like that.
Lance.
