Best non sports modern autograph set

I'm thinking about starting a new set and wanted to get some ideas on what you thought is the best modern (last 20 years or so) autograph non major 4 sports autograph set to start? Let me know your ideas and rationale, also looking for factory issued autographs. Thanks in advance!

My guesses on sports figures outside of the 4 major sports:

Muhammad Ali (albeit he's been out of the boxing game for more than 20 years)
    Floyd Mayweather
    Tiger Woods
    Roger Federer
    Venus Williams
    Serena Williams
    Cristiano Ronaldo
    Lionel Messi
    Jimmie Johnson
    Michael Phelps
    Usain Bolt

I would say the Philly Non Sports Show has some interesting cards... such as the James Wolf (w/ parents) variation.

That's a great checklist what set is it that has them all together?

Until you said factory issued I was going to say 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series A, only 36 cards but there are great guys in there.

I was gonna say the Star Wars Galactic Files, but apparently it was "non-MAJOR-sports..."

There is not a set of signed trading cards from the 80's that are even close to the prices of the Wrestling All Stars.

If you want to pursue the most rare then you go for these.

What makes this set of cards so difficult is there were actually bad guys back in the day. They did not break character. The other major issue is that unfortunately many are dead.

Perhaps the two most difficult cards in the set are The Grand Wizard and Gino Hernandez.

The Grand Wizard appears in the 1983 set and Ernie Roth passed away in October of that year.

Gino was a total party animal in Texas at the time and was having a blast. He was found dead in February of 1986 with a large amount of cocaine in his stomach.

There are no known complete signed sets and if you are wanting a challenge here it is.

I was going to say Lord of the Rings...some high profile actors in that set from an epic movie.

I would go X-Men in that case.
  • If you are looking for sports other than the 4 major sports I would pick an Allen & Ginter autograph set (any one from 2006 -2012). Includes a lot of baseball players but also has soccer, boxing , wrestling, swimming, ice skating, skiing, auto racing, rugby. gymnasts, fishermen and a lot of real odd ball cards (hot dog eating, stuntman, video game champs...etc)

If it's a non-sports set you want, pick a TV show or movie series you like. There are a lot out there. Star Trek (all the different shows) , Star Wars, James Bond, Twilight Zone, NCIS, Game of Thrones, Lost, 24, Warehouse 13, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, Spartacus....etc.

Thanks for the suggestions so far some good ones, just to clarify what im looking for.... the set must be issued by the manufacturer autographed not signed later and I prefer an on card autograph to a sticker. And I am looking for either non sports like the Star Wars set or a non major sports auto set. Also if you would mind stating the year of the set you are talking about or inserting the checklist so we can all see why you like it.

Not the best but I put together the Ring Kings set from 2008, it is sticker autos but the very first MMA set in all autos. I have all the cards in either PSA 10 or 9 and the one Frankie Edgar in PSA 8 but there were only 25 made.

It can get pricey at times but the 1998/99 Topps WCW autograph set is full of big names and on card autographs.
