Need some help with Matte Proof Lincolns

I'm sure I'm chasing a white whale, but is this the die chip diagnostic for the VDB Proof?
I don't have the book. The coin appears to have an old cleaning, but full details, so some of the features are hard to identify.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing. Can you show us a picture of the whole coin. If you do a search, there was a thread on MPL diagnostics and a link for the VDB.

Maybe wishful thinking...We have ALL seen it one time or another LOL. But seriously, just looking at the rim, thats not a MPL.

The die lump you're looking for is bigger, like almost the size of the periods between the words, like E (dot) PLURIBUS (dot) UNUM (die lump). Say you took one of those periods and carved out a chevron shape. That's what you're looking for. Depending on the toning, it can be tricky to spot, but the obverse characteristics must be present as well, which I suspect in your case, are not.

I see die erosion or flow lines. This is not found on MPL's.
