2008 PCGS sample holder?

Just came across this recently and don't think I'd seen one before...

Is this a sort of sample holder or something else?

    If it were a Sample it would state Sample.

    Since it does not, then it can be assumed to be a generically graded coin probably from a bulk submission where it did not meet minimum grade.

    Anything special? Not unless your into collecting slab/label "types".
    I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    These do come up for sale on eBay from time to time.
    I search for "PCGS Samples" and these are there.
    But they are a newer slab, I don't know the history of them, or why they were made.

    It is the kind of slab made for the "Home Shopping Network" kind of shows.
