  • Guys, it is really really bad here. It missed my house by about two miles so my family was very fortunate. I am 57 and have lived in Oklahoma most of my life. I have seen a lot of tornado damage during those years including my own house in 2003 and the very deadly tornado that hit this same area in 1999 but all of it pales with what happened today. The people that were hit this afternoon truly need your prayers.

I live in OKC and Moore is about 20 miles south of my house and I can tell you the damage is just unbelievable. Please keep the families and especially the children in your thoughts. Thanks, Andy

This is awful. I am so sorry to all the people affected. No words can describe what those parents and EVERYONE affected by this must be feeling.

I live in Norman, about 10 miles south, though I'm currently in Ohio. One of the admin staff where I work had her house hit by the tornado.

I'm a research meteorologist. I was watching the storm on a radar app. Very early it was quite obvious that this was a big one, and that there would probably be many desths (24). Live pics from a tv broadcast (KOCO Okc), showed a tornado larger than I've ever seen.

I had no idea we had so many fellow Okies on the board. I live in Mustang and the storms were about 7 miles south of us. 2 people I work with had their homes destroyed, 1 had a daughter in one of the elementary schools. She was taken to the hospital with cuts, but has been released and is ok. 5 other co-workers have serious damage to their houses.

We do a lot of work with Tinker Air Force Base and received this from them:
40 members of the 552nd have lost homes

Thoughts and prayers to my North neighbors that are suffering from massive devastation. In times like these, got to try and find some silver lining. The donation numbers posted above by gstarling are a good start and then there's this (in case you haven't seen it):
