now THIS is how a dual slab should be utilized !

Saw this on ebay ... VERY CLEVER USAGE.
People that are considering using dual slabs should keep this one in mind.

I saw that pair in hand last year when the submitting dealer had it and thought it was the best usage of this duo holder.

Does PCGS offer a storage box for these twin holders image

Nicely matched. NGC had been doing this for some time but did away with it for some reason.

So did they cut the coin in half down the middle? How do they do this?

yes and no, while that appears to be nicely matched and a cool concept, it doesn't take into account the resale implications down the road. The problem is those are 2 expensive coins and pretty evenly matched in price, it might be harder to sell as if you want only one you must pony up for both actually limiting the top end price potential. I would think the trick is finding matched coins that invoke the novelty craving but the 2nd coin is a value add and not more than around 10-15% of the primary value allowing you to round up the value of the first one and not having the dealer try and sell them both. But it is pretty cool no doubt

The number of market-acceptable monster toning on common date MS63 dollars is now increasing twice as fast.

If they stopped slabbing them now, what would they do about all the coins with similar toning already in holders?

Someday there will probably be more monster toners than white coins.

Any idea why 2 coins obviously submitted together have such widely different serial numbers??

They may have been submitted in holders already to be placed in the dual holder. I'm guessing the match was discovered by the submitter.

How much would it cost to get consecutive cert numbers for them?
