Ebay's the place. It's been out of print for decades so it's not the cheapest book out there. There are a few different versions of this book. This copy is an original 1981 first edition hardcover. There are also softcover versions of it as well as soft cover versions with the "movie poster" front cover that were released when the movie came out in 1982.

not cheap is right, theres a1st print 1st edition on ebay for $500+
Oh man...what ever happened to Ron Johnson?....That guy was living the dream: selling stereo equipment and committing statutory rape with underage girls in the dugout at the point.
Love the movie -went to High School with Sean Penn and me and my friends pretty much resembled his character back then. The book was even better than the movie, with the exception of Phoebe Cates.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
<< <i>I have dealt with rare books for some time and that book in paperback would fetch up to $200. Is that still the case? >>
The paperback version typically sells in the $35-$50 range and that depends on the cover version, condition, etc. This hardback sells in the $100-$200+ range. I actually paid $225 but it's the best copy I've seen in 2 or 3 years of looking. It's tightly bound, there are no marks of any kind inside and there is no yellowing around the cover (which is commonly seen on these). If PSA graded books, it'd have to be at least a 9.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

LOL, to be fair, he did ask her one last time and she said she was "really 19".
Legendary movie, watched is a couple weekends ago. Thanks for posting the book, I've never seen it before.
<< <i>I'm a modern first edition collector myself -- cards are actually my secondary hobby. I also collect signed sports books.
I've never seen that book in a shop.
Dust jacket looks great. Nice pick. >>
I used to go to bookshop signings to get first edition signed copies. But I have stopped for sometime now and my collection has eroded since. But as a seller, I have learned a lot and seen some very cool stuff. I used to own - I think it was a 3rd edition trilogy UK printing complete with maps, etc. It was a steal at $40. But I have always wanted a first edition Gravity's Rainbow.
I don't have Gravity's Rainbow either. There are a lot of post-WWII fiction titles that I'm lacking but I keep looking. My favorites to look for are Pulitzer, National Book Award, and Man-Booker winners. And a handful of more literary authors that I like.
I do collect baseball novels, and signed sports books in general, preferably bios signed by players or managers.
We have a lot of thrift stores here in town where you can pick up things for lamost nothing. Just today at lunch I found a signed copy of Whitey Herzog's "White Rat" at a Goodwill store for $1.
The thing I love about picking books is that everyone knows what a book is but few value them, I'd say 999 out of 1000 people have no clue what makes a book collectible or valuable. So you can build a great collection really cheaply.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the PSA 10 collector he didn't exist.
