Rack Packs on ebay (question)

Hello,
I am a newbie to this board, but not to collecting. I am fairly new to buying unopened wax, rack packs, though. I have been instructed by many of you to never buy an unopened wax packs off of ebay. Only to go through the Baseball Card Exchange. I got this part down. I was wondering if the same rule applies to rack packs. I could see how easy it would be to tamper with wax, but racks are a little different. Would you advise me to stay away from rack packs also? I have been looking at some things in the ebay seller store the_dugout_unopened_wax and wondering if I should pull the trigger or stay away altogether. Any advice would help cause I am ready to buy.
Thank you for your help,
Jon

Been collecting on and off from 1982. Football is my favorite, although, I do like baseball. Always looking for 1984 Topps and 1989 Score Football PSA 10's.

1979 Topps Cello - His price = $39.99 ....... BBCE price = $27.00
1982 Topps Wax Pack - His price = $7.25 ....... BBCE price = $6.00
1985 Fleer Wax Pack - His price $5.99 ..... BBCE price = $3.00
Are his other prices better than Steve's?
Edited to add: Just realized that possibly the Racks you are looking at from this guy are not available from Steve. That being said, there are people that reseal Racks as well ... and they do a great job! However, I am not familiar with this particular ebay seller.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

from them so I cant speak from experience. Take it for what its worth.
Unfortunately rack packs can be resealed too. However, there are things you can look for to tell if a rack pack is good or not. If it is older racks, pre-1977 than the wrapper should be the thicker plastic. Also, the header card should display the correct code on it. A lot of times, resealers like to use cheaper non-baseball racks and fill them with nm type cards and add a star or two on top. Usually they use the furthest section from the header card to slip in a star card. Only certain cards should appear in certain sections in a rack pack which makes identifying potential fake packs easier. Also, if you look at either the top or bottom seams, you can usually see where they used a wire heater to reseal the rack.
I usually use existing racks in my collection to compare to any I purchase on eBay. The more you handle racks, the easier to spot fakes IMO.
I hope this helps and good luck!!!
