What's going on with the bottom of Buffs rear right leg? Is this a weak strike or a worn die or something else? Opinions??

It's hard to tell, but there appear to be a couple of things going on.

    1) Notice the flow lines near and perpendicular to the edge (particularly on the lower half of the coin). This suggests the die is well-worn.
    2) Notice the variation in the width of the rim. This could be due to the angle of the picture, but the rim appears to be much wider on the half near the tail and narrower near the head (compare the rim above AMERICA with that above UNITED). This could mean the coin was struck a bit off-center or unevenly.

Both of these could contribute to the indistinct right rear leg. Or ?

    Enjoy!
