Cards With Tape Residue

I have 5 or 6 53 Bowman cards that had tape on them at one point. The tape flaked off without ripping the card, but there is obviously a stain from the tape left on there. Will these cards even get more than an Aunthentic grade or will they come back with the (ST) qualifier?

I have my member submission that I'm going to send in soon and debating mailing them in since they're all nice cards in terms of star power.

Roy Campanella
Pee Wee Reese (One of my favoirte cards ever)
Bauer/Mantle/Berra
Rizzuto/Martin

There's one or two more I can't think as well. Just wondering if I should leave em raw or send em in? They'd be for my personal collection, not looking to flip em.

I can scan em and throw em up later if that'll help get opinions, but I'm at work right now.

Thanks guys!

As long as there is no card stock missing you can get the qualifier of ST. Also I have heard there is a way to remove the residue but I am thinking with cards this old you are hosed.

I'd rather not take the risk of removing the residue. I'd rather get the qualifier than have the card look tampered with.
  • Tape or glue residue will drop the grade to a PSA 2 maximum.

I sent a 52B mantle card to dick towle with tape still on the front of the card, it came back clean and psa graded it a vg3. I think it cost $100 or so, was a couple years back. It was for my PC and I just wanted a decent looking card, the tape on front was awful.

I think his business is called "gone with the stain" but I think his website is gone. You can find him across the street

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
