1833 Half Dollar - Grade / Overton Please

I usually post over on the world forums and don't know much (anything) about US coins so please be gentle . I said I'd look into this half dollar he has.

I'm after opinions on grade and what Overton number it is? I grade it as VF30 details myself with the two gouges on the reverse.

Probably closer to VF35

My book's not handy but if no one gets you an answer I'll post in the morning.

I don't think the reverse hits would "genuine" it.

VF feels right. 30/35.

BTW, you might need to be older than dirt to recall that TV show.

Your guess of 30 net details is the floor. A lot of the old CBHs will grade despite marks that in another series, like Morgans, would result in a details grade. Whether these 2 reverse marks push this coin over the edge in the eyes of PCGS is anyone's guess. Like the others, my guess is that PCGS will find it acceptable. I've seen the classic "X" mark (testing if the thing was real silver) on nearly all circulated grades and the coin still gets a grade. On this one 30 or 35 seems about right. I like 35.
