Paid vs. Free certified application

Do you think if you are using "free" cert form (from the PCGS membership benefit), most probably, your coin will come back either in bodybag or cannot be crossed? imageimage

No, it's more likely to come back in a good grade to sucker you into paying for your next submission. image

The only thing that I have noticed with the freebie is that if you call PCGS and be polite, they may sneak the free one through the process a little faster, especially if it is your first time to use a freebie. I had that happen yesterday, even though I explained to the girl that I had been paying for submissions for 3 years.

For my "freebies" I cracked out two NGC's and one IGC, and sent them in with another raw one. All four came back slabbed, but in each case one point lower. In the case of the IGC, it also dropped from a DCAM to a CAM. To me this was typical PCGS grading fashion, even without knowing that they were previously holdered by other companies.

I have a TERRIBLE record on cross-overs for regular submissions, so the freebies were par for the course.

I submitted 5 proof Ikes for my freebies. They all came back DCAM or CAM, but in PR66 or 67. I had been looking for higher grades to
upgrade my registry set. Oh well...
