It's great to work with a dealer

I attend many of the major shows, FUN every year, summer ANA, Baltimore. There are so many that I can not make. A dealer Gus Green, from Full Eagle rare coin, just called me, he lives in Florida. He is planning on attending the upcoming show in New Orleans. He just returned from Central States so he attends a lot that I am not able too. I feel lucky to have a set of eyes at these shows for me. It took me quite a few years to find someone who I feel has my eye and taste for coins.

Gus wanted to touch base and see if I knew of anything there he could look at or buy for me. He will check in with me a few times while there if something pops. What a nice feeling this is. Does anyone else have this?

A good dealer who will treat you fairly, return phone calls & e-mails, buy back coins (when appropriate), screen coins at auction, and keep you in mind when something special shows up is worth his weight in copper........ maybe silver if he's not too big. Not gold. No dealer is worth his weight in gold. image

I work with one or two or three on a semi-regular basis. When I consider all of the coins in my collection and then the ones I like the most, the majority of the good ones came to me via a good dealer.

Gus is a great guy as although a dealer he still retains that true collector passion about coins.

I had the privilege of meeting him a few years ago purely by accident and have exchanged pleasant emails and phone calls with him since.

He's just a really friendly guy even if you pass him in the lobby and I always look forward to seeing him at shows.

Gus is great. I just picked up a couple of MPL's from him. Definitely on my preferred list.

    Excellent.
Yet, isn't that what Dealers do? Purchase coins and sell them to collectors?

Not all have my eye and taste for coins, which is the main thrust of this thread.

Its good to know that there are some proffesionals that still go above and beyond.

this is something to remember when expecting a dealer to pay full retail and sell at grey sheet.. they cant be expected to work for free.

I am trying to build a few strong relationships with a few dealers so they can keep extra eyes out there for me on the tough to locate stuff.
