I would only remotely consider buying ASE's at $70-80 if they were NGC or PCGS certified at MS70 or MS69. If they were proof strikes (and certified), then yes, that's an appropriate amount, or if they're a pretty rare issue (i.e., proof ASE from 1995-W) then you should spend even more.
If you want regular ASE's, though, you should not be spending more than $26-28. Check out www.apmex.com for their prices.
A couple weeks ago (the days following the big crash) they were readily available at $10 over spot per coin IF you bought a monster box (1000 coins) at a time. I'm not sure what the current going price is now.
One local coin shop here has them for either $4 over silver price or maybe it was $4.50 over, can't remember. Either way it's right around $28 each. About as low as I've seen them available. Most shops around SoCal are still claiming they are sold out and are obviously waiting for silver prices to go back up a bit... then their cases will magically be full of the same coins they had a month ago
Sorry, I mistakenly thought that if spot was $29/oz and APMEX was charging $33, there'd be a $4 premium, and thus if spot was $24, there'd be a $28 premium. So let it be $30-35... the point still stands.

On eBay, single silver eagles are going for well over $30 each.
