Have a question regarding 1801 Bust Dimes

I've been told there was a new variety of the 1801 since the book. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
I've not been able to find any results on an 1801 JR-3.

That's very possible. I was able to find there was a "new" discovery of an 1801 half dime as well, but nothing on the dime.

There has been no new discovery of any new die marriage for the 1801 Bust dimes since the EUSD dime book was published. There are just the JR-1 and JR-2 die marriages presently known, which would explain why you could not find anything on the 1801 JR-3; it does not exist, at least as far as is known. In addition, there have been no new 1801 half dimes discovered since the Logan/McCloskey book was published, either. In fact, prior to the publication of the L/M CBHD book, the existence of the previously designated V1 and V2 1801 half dimes were actually determined to be the same die marriage, now designated as LM-2. The rare 1801 LM-1 was discovered prior to the publication of the half dime book.

As Realone stated, you may be thinking of the 1803 JR-5 bust dime, which was discovered by Ed Price in 1993, after the Bust Dime book was published.
