Anyone having problems with Search function?

SDSportsFanSDSportsFan Posts: 5,176 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'm trying to do a thread search in the coin forum, and I keep getting the following error message:

The page you were accessing requires variables to be passed to it.
Error Code: 100

Is anyone else having this problem, or does anyone know what the heck that message even means?

It has been like that for a very long time. I think the search works on IE browser though. But never on Safari or Chrome for me.

There probably wont be a change in the search function dysfunction until the forum software is updated.

One band aid is to use Google in the advanced mode, and under "site or domain" put in: forums.collectors.com. That will limit Google's search to these forums. You will have to use more than one search term and use very specific terms, or you will get a long list of results.

And if you're looking for a specific post or thread and you know about when it was posted you can also use the "last update" function under Google advanced to limit the search to a time period and lower the number of results you get. And entering the poster's name under the search terms might help.

A fully functioning forum search feature would work better but at least this is something.

Even using IE to search successfully for an old thread, especially in the BST forum, is pretty much useless now since the edit tool for an old post is dysfunctional.image

I think if you do a Search of the forum you'll find many threads on this topic.

Compared to other search functionality available today it is primitive and quirky. Our hosts, with the money they spend on this software, should demand better from their vendor. Now-a-days they can put a special server powered by "Google" to replace that search functionality and it would not only be a million times fast, and more accurate, BUT would not require all of the [dang] check boxes! Yikes!

Right now. If I try to use any button (Edit, Quote, Reply) in IE browser, All I get is a red X in the upper left corner of the Message Text box.

One thing I do is search using IE [no need to sign in] which brings up the usual list of threads for the chosen topic. From the list I get keywords from thread titles and paste them into the quick search box near the of each forum home page. This brings up that particular thread in yer different browsers. The quick search box searches only titles.
