Why does BBCE pjrotect some packs better than others?

Hi, this is probably a silly question, but that has never stopped me before. Whenever I get a package from BBCE, there are usually some loose packs that come in a cellophane holder and a card saver for support. Whereas other packs just come loose without any wrapping. It is not always based on value either. However, these "protected" packs always seemed to be in nicer condition. Is this Steve's way of telling us which packs should grade higher? I think so. thanks for any insight, Tom

The ones in long term storage sold as packs get the holder treatment. The ones from the group rips go right into the boxes. That's my theory at least.

Well, I've received packs from them only through these group rips. Some of the packs are sent in a cello wrapper and top loader, while others are simply loose. Its not based on value either as I received a 1977 Topps baseball wax loose ($40) while getting 1981/82 basketball protected. Jus curious if this is Steve letting us know which packs are likely to grade higher.
  • I also think its how they pack them. Or perhaps more expensive packs get that kind of treatment. When I purchased packs at $60 each, they were protected better. But when I purchase in the rips and get like 30 packs, they will come bunched together, wrapped in plastic bubble which seems they reinforce each other well enough.

    I think we're overthinking this.
