Crossover Results

Sharing the results from the cross over that just popped. They came in just as I expected. These were sent in the holders and NOT cracked out.

VERY GOOD 3 1949 BOWMAN 224 SATCHELL PAIGE (was SGC 3.5)

MG: MINIMUM GRADE 1993 SP 279 DEREK JETER FOIL (is BGS 9)

GOOD 2 1957 TOPPS 77 BILL RUSSELL (was BVG 3)

MINT 9 2003 PANINI SPORTS MEGA CRAQUES 137 CRISTIANO RONALDO (was BGS 9)

Here is what I told a fellow board member what I thought the grades would be...
93 Jeter SP rookie BGS 9 with 9.5 for centering, 9 for corners, 9 for surface, 8.5 for edges. I requested a min grade of 9 and don't think this will cross just because PSA is so stingy with the 9's.

03 Ronaldo MegaCraques BGS 9. I think this will cross

49 Bowman Satchell Page SGC 3.5 - no min grade. I think this will come back 3-4

57 Topps Bill Russell BVG 3 - no min grade. I think this will drop.

Has PSA ever received a crossover from BVG or SGC and gave it a higher grade? If so it has to be extremely rare, correct?

I would bet that none of the major grading companies have ever graded a card higher in a crossover submission.

There have been some 9 and 9.5s crossed but not in the slab.

    Thanks,

That is pretty impressive. This was my second crossover in the slab. I was 3/4 last time with rookies for Dorsett, Montana, Ozzie Smith crossing at the same grade and a Gretzky rookie not crossing. Funny thing was I cracked the Gretzky and subbed. It ended up going up a 1/2 point after I cracked it!

Never getting a higher grade than the original make this whole grading thing a racket. Only if you send in a PSA graded for review you might get a bump. I have sent in a card for a crossover and had it drop in grade, then crack it out and get a full grade and a half bump on the next submission!!
I wonder what percentage PSA makes off of not grading the card properly the first time and re-grading properly later and later and later.
Why bother grading cards correctly the first time if you will send them in again to get reviewed?
