In search of Masters of Golf Tiger Rookie - Box break

Thought I would try and beat the odds and pull a 15k+ Tiger card. They come one set per box in the form of a big cello. The cards are tall boy in style. Tiger of course sits at the bottom of said cello. The cello is loosley held into the oversized box allowing it to slip and slide. Oh and did mention the cards are black and glossy.

Luckily I paid very little for the box. More curious to see what the set is all about. The POP report shows roughly 10k submissions with only two 10's graded to date. Wow one of the toughest cards ever.

Suffice to say every card was stuck together and the Tiger had surface damage and major corner damage. Not worth the sub fees.

A link to a similar box is for your info. You will see a rather large number of BGS 9.5's floating around. I suspect this is as a result of cutting the high number of sheets that are available, my box had a offer to purchase a uncut sheet.

Curiousity served.

I've always liked this card better than the si for kids. What is the deal with the gold foil version. Were these randomly inserted or mailin?

I remember buying 10 boxes from one seller back in the day just before they got white hot for $40 a box.

Before I received them in the mail they were going for over $100 and then up up and away.

I opened all ten and sent them to I think SGC was the only one grading them.

    The same issue back then.

The best I got was one 8 rest were 5 and 6's

I was so disappointed at the time when I opened them I didn't keep any.

    Joe
