fake PCGS Morgan in a fake PCGS holder on ebay

Here's the link to an 1893-O Morgan in AU58 on eBay. Notice the serial number.

Now here's the link to the real coin with that serial number in the Heritage archives that sold back in December 2008.

Look at the reverse toning spot near the word OF on the Heritage coin.

or cares? i can't go back but i bet within a few months of participating in numismatics i would have recognized this as at the very least a suspicious looking coin. probably wouldn't have noticed the crappy holder though.

Looks like the fake would grade much higher than an AU58. Font on the cert no where close. Great catch!

That coin looks like a gem. I've never seen a genuine 1893-O that looked that nice, but if it did it would be worth $150k or more. Also, the title says AU55 while the holder says AU58. Great detective work. I have reported it as well. Hopefully it will be down ASAP.
