Best card(s) you've ever pulled from a group break?

There's just something about yanking a gem from one of these rips that I find inherently cool. Has a slightly different feel to it, in my opinion. My most notable pulls were Montana and Henderson RCs from the same break last fall. Neither was framed up, but frankly I didn't give a crap. Simply experiencing the exhilaration of pulling the cards I was looking for (from consecutive packs, mind you) was absolutely priceless. Not only that, but it confirmed what I had been reading all along -- BBCE was undoubtedly the preeminent source of everything unopened.

The breaks predate my time here, hence I'm sure I've missed a lot of the home runs that were hit. What's your story? And if you've got scans to share, I for one would love to see them.

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

I've never ripped anything from the group breaks, but I did pull a Marino RC from a pack at the National last year. I only collect unopened baseball so I figured it was o.k.

I know Fergie's pulls some big hits. When I first came on the board, there were many more rippers than openly unopened guys on here. But since we've come out in larger numbers, everything is good now. image

• That's funny I pulled a Henderson and Montana from the fall breaks too. Henderson Was an 8 and Montana an 8.5
• I have only done a handful. I pulled 2 Marino rookies, 2 Steve Young rookies and a Jerry Rice rookie. I would say those were the best. I did pull 3 Steve Yzerman rookies in the last break (1 centered, 2 off centered), which is not too shabby either.

Not technically a rip, but it certainly highlights the integrity of BBCE. The last rip we did with the 1976 cello baseball, I purchased one pack and got a very clean pack with a nicely centered Tom Seaver staring right at me.

Montana RC - Probably 8 or 8OC if I ever grade it.
88 fleer BK pack, still unopened with a Jordan Sticker on back.

I bought a box of '85 donruss baseball as an add on to a rip as well. The first 28 packs were awful and then I got 1 of everything you could ask for from that box with a couplle doubles by the end. Very fun to see the box pan out after being certain it was a complete flop.

I pulled a Montana rookie, Marino rookie and I think a Rickey Henderson rookie. I pulled a Ripken rookie and also got an 82 Topps cello box with a Ripken rookie on top of one of the packs.

I pulled this from a group rip of 2001 Topps. True story! It may not be my most valuable pull, but it was certainly my most thrilling! image

The only rip I was a part of was one of Gary's. I pulled a valuable life lesson.
• I pulled a Jordan Rookie that came back a Psa 9. Also the biggest and best card I have ever pulled.
• This is my best pull from one of the rips: GEM MINT 10 1993 PINNACLE 457 DEREK JETER

many moons of yesteryears since i pulled a Brett mini rookie from a '75 pack in the infamous zef204 box break.....it was severly miscut as were most of the other cards in the other 5 packs that i should never have bothered opening. image

I bought 2 packs of 84 Topps football in the only group break I have participated in. I pulled a guaranteed PSA 9 Marino RC. That is, until I saw the back centering was 110/-10.
Looking to have some custom cuts or plain custom cards built? PM me.

I don't rip very many packs I purchase in these group breaks. I did pull a Marino RC from an '84 Topps cello which graded a 9. A few highlights of packs I didn't open are a '76 cello with Tom Seaver on the front, a '76 cello with Babe Ruth ATAS on the front and a '73 Topps wax pack (came from Felicia) with Pete Rose on the front and Clemente on the back.

By far my favorite pull was from a pack I didn't get from a CU group break. It was the 1971 Pete Rose that came from a rack pack I broke. It came back recently as an 8.

i love that video - watch it often - you should get a royalty on that youtube vid! congrats on the 8!
• I busted my packs from the group breaks this year - got some hits
81 Cello yielded a Valenzuela rising stars
82 cello pulled a Ripken
81 cello pulled a Henderson
Actually broke them on the day George Scott passed and pulled his card in an 80 pack and a 77 pack
Pulled a Munson from the 78 OPC pack - which was sweet even though rough cut and OC - Schmidt and Hernandez too in that back. And a nice looking vida blue.
Some other minors but those were the biggies. Packs from last year - The 76 and 77 topps bb were clean but not great centering. A lot of fun though. Looking forward to break #4 for 2013!

I pulled a few 1972 OPC Roberto Clemente In Action cards, one graded a straight 9, one a 9OC, and I kept the third raw.
• Off the top of my head....

72 Staubach (9 OC)
81 Montana
86 Rice

The best was what I didn't open:
72 Topps Series 2 pack with Johnny Unitas on front
72 Topps Series 2 pack with O.J Simpson on front

on top of that I opened these two w/o realizing it:
72 Topps Series 2 pack Jurgensen on Back
72 Topps Series 2 pack Larry Csonka on front

I have left a lot of what I've bought from our group breaks sealed, but I did open an 83 pack and pull this one.....................

image

I ended up selling for $200+, not bad for what was a $3 pack at the time.

2001 Topps Traded Pujols which got a PSA 10
Have pulled a 78 Ryan and Murray as well. Murray ended up being a 7, didn't grade the Ryan.
