Beckett BCA? Is this even useful?

This service is to have someone tell you what they think cards are worth. So if you want to know what a 1/1 card might be worth, they will tell you for the price of $15.

To me one could find out by putting it on eBay for $999 with a best offer and that should tell you for about .20 cents.

Would be good for insurance reasons too, depending on the item I would say that can definitely be worth $15.

Sounds like a waste of money to me. I would have serious doubts about their ability to be accurate on a consistent basis.

  • To me its great for someone who is entirely clueless about selling on eBay and has no capacity to judge or determine a price of an item on their own. And to me that is who it's main target is.

  • << <i>Interesting ... well for those who don't have access to, or want to be bothered with VCP, ebay and pop reports this service might actually be useful to them.

Especially for potentially very high dollar items, spending a few bucks to feel better about an asking price is smart business. >>

    What a frigin joke!!!!!

What happened to the Beckett I once knew in the 90s? Back when it was THE hobby magazine and deservedly so?

If Beckett was smart they would provide a VCP for graded cards 2000-present. I would gladly pay a monthly fee for it but per card no way.

eBay is what happened to it and they realized they were way off the mark with prices. So now, you can buy the magazine for $10 AND ask an "expert" what an item is worth for an additional $15! How is that for a deal.

"According to my professional and expert opinion, your 2013 Topps Andrew Carignan limited numbered 1 of 2013 card is valued at .25 cents. That's $15 please."

I agree. This is very useful for insurance purposes. Beckett does claim to have a very large database of past sales that they reference for the appraisals. So if they need to go back 4-5 years to see what a Rickey Henderson 1/1 tribute card sold for, they claim to have access to that information.
