Trader etiquette poll for all you Miss manners types

I was talking to a guy earlier on IM about a deal, I made him offer, and his response was, "I'll probably do it; let me post on CU first and see what else I'm offered."
Now, I find this pretty offensive. It's one thing to decline an offer, but to leave someone hanging on the vine while you go trolling for better offers, I think, is inexcusable. It's the guys card; he can do whatever he wants with it, but I think that was pretty damn rude, and I'm probably just going to retract my offer and say the hell with him.
What does everyine else think? Am I being oversensitive, or do you agree that what he did is not reasonable "trader etiquette?"
