I don't understand...

This card was listed by 4SC for $119 just a while back. It looks like it sold through their website a few weeks ago and then just sold again on ebay. It is only Pop 2 and I own the other one so it is the same card as sold by 4SC for $100+. Why drop that much money?

  • We can't answer the why things happen.

In reality though as you know the year isn't rare and this card has only been subbed 31 times. It's a artificial rare POP in a way as is the case with many cards not worth the price to have subbed unless chasing a set. I think the price paid in auction format is closer to what the real price should is.

I would agree with you if it was sold via auction format but it was a BIN for $19 and sold very shortly after being listed.
This particular card is notorious for poor centering which is part of why so few subs. I have a PSA 9 that I've been trying to sell for $5 with no takers so only cards with a solid shot at a 10 will get subbed. I went through 4 boxes of wax and countless sets and never even came close to an 8 for this card.
  • The surprise isn't that it sold for 19, but that someone paid 119.

Perhaps because Probstein doesn't bother to do research before pricing his BIN cards which is why he relies so much on an ineffective auction format which only benefits a small percentage of the cards he lists but for some reason they get all the pub on these boards leading to the misconception that he gets the strongest prices for everything he lists rather than just a few low pop high demand cards?

    Just a guess.....
  • Doesn't the card owner specify what they would take in a BIN?
