A premium that is just really hard to beat

WeissWeiss Posts: 9,941 ✭✭✭✭✭
I tried to buy a 50 peso on Tuesday, but the dealer didn't want to sell to me (they knew they bought it high and had no interest in selling it at dip prices).

Placed an order on goldmart instead. I opted for their deal of the day (krugerrand at $24 over spot) and a gold buffalo. But they had 50 pesos, too.

The premium? $19.99. And that's for the whole coin (1.2057 AGW).

Hard to beat that, though even the krand and buffalo go against my rule of 1/4 ounce sized coins.

Anyone bought a 50 peso from Goldmart? Their copy doesn't indicate if these are the '47 restrike (which is likely) or if they're the earlier peices (which have some numismatic value, too).

I can't buy at places that take 3-6 weeks to ship AFTER they wait 10-15 days to 'process' your funds.

I don't know how you guys do it. Its not worth saving $10-$15 bucks.

    I love these guys:

The Way it should be done: I pay you quick, you ship it quick; what's so hard here?

I understand wanting things TODAY. But precious metals are a long, long term store of wealth for me.

If I wanted to play the market, I'd put money into ETFs or mining stocks. Instantaneous buying and selling.

Locking in a crazy low price on physical gold with a reputable seller is something I have plenty of patience for. I'm not looking to flip it.

I have purchased twice from them.
The first I paid with cc and they shipped in 3 business days after my order.
The second time I paid by check and they shipped 8 business days after receiving it.
Where did you get the 3-6 weeks process time?

I think all (or almost all) Mexican gold dated 1947 are restrikes. Simply for bullion.

Some information about the 1947 dated 50 peso restrikes.
