Engelhard 4 oz old pour bar , seeking advice and price

Hello Everyone!

I am new to the forum ,
I metal detect , treasure hunt , dabble in PM

Someone suggested I join here based on a bar that I recently acquired.

It is a 4oz ENGELHARD old pour.

Serial # is 00004

The layout suggests a third pressing , but no "+" after 999
and the original price tag of $10 from Woodward's department store that used to be here in Vancouver puts this beauty at 1972~a first pressing.

So my question is this......Seeing as silver went above $2.50 per OZ in 1973 and has stayed there since....

Is this the fourth 4 oz bar ever poured by Engelhard?

I assure you that this is real.

It was purchased at a local small auction for melt x 3 , what a lucky day!

Thanks for any advice and help researching this.

I am having a hard time uploading a photo as it seems I have to minimize the size.

I will do this tonight or tomorrow.

Cheers

Chris

your PM function is turned off, you will need to enable that.

You may have something of value there, I would love to take a look.

Have you tried to use a photo hosting site like photobucket?

Let me know if I can be of further assistance & cheers

All in all I have done a lot of research on the bar , as far as I can go at this point.

I have explained my findings in the Coin community forum thread.
It's a great piece of bullion history.

    Welcome!

IMHO, if you have to worry so much about the assay of your asset, you are paying low for the metal and a continuing psychological cost for ownership.

And thanks to all for the shine on the bar.

It is a pretty great piece of bullion history.

Does anyone know of any photo collections of 4 oz bars other than "about.ag"

    Cheers

If you want to sell it, put it on eBay. It should do extremeely well with that low serial number. If you sell it here I would certainly like an opportunity to bid on it as would others here.

+1. Without question, it will do best on eBay. Take some good photos and you'll get top dollar.

Total nonsense. There are several people who post here that would be interested in this bar and would pay strong money for it. The best return will be eBay where rare bars can bring crazy money.

I really like the packaging too.
    Certainly a unique feature.
