I have encountered that if a particular card/issue is not yet registered in the database. They will manually add it for you so you can enter the cert #.

OK, so here's the deal. Usually I will check cert # before bidding on an item, but last night I bid and won an item kind of as an after thought. I was out bid on 3 other items that I really expected to win, so that means I had money to bid on this item, which was a McCovey RC PSA 8. I am very happy with the card as I won it at about $70 under VCP average price. After I win a card, than I have to enter it in the set registry, add it to my spreadsheet, add it to my website, and remove it from 3 want lists. Whew!
So when I try to add to my set registry, I get a "not in data base". I check with the cert # validation and get the same message. This morning I called PSA and explained, they said to send in a scan of front & back, which I did. I receive a very quick response via email saying it is most likely a database error, but to correct I need to send the card in and they gave me specific instructions. That's fine also, kind of a hassle but that's ok.
My concerns though, are what if I send it in and they tell me it's fraudulent or something? By the time I get this information, I will probably not be protected by Paypal, I think. I really don't think it's the sellers fault or responsibility. I do not want to loose the card because it was a good deal and these are not that easy to pick up any more. One thing a little strange, this is an old flip, you would think somebody would have noticed this by now? Any thoughts?

I am surprised they asked you to send the card in. I too would be a little concerned.
