It might be, to a serious Bust Quarter set collector. The current finest known is Glenn Marx's NGC AU-50, with 3 XF-45's below it, and the remainder of the published census of 11 coins total at VF-20 or lower. I believe that one of our infrequent posters here owns an example of B-5. Hopefully he'll see this thread and chime in.

To me, someone who could care less about Browning numbers, it is not worth even $100.00.

To someone who is a Browning number specialist and has money ... who knows.

Here it is pre-holder. I would still agree that it was a bit harsh to not grade this coin, in this grade. If I was the owner, I would most certainly crack it out and try it again.

Stone, can you elaborate on how a standing count of 11 examples in the JRCS census equates to "becoming more common" ?

Big Rim Ding at 9:30 on the reverse it is most easily seen, the fields on the obverse are questionable. The die break is neat, but 10k no way. IMHO

I actually kind of have a feeling this is one of those situations where the photos overblow the damage. I could be wrong, though. I must admit I'm a little surprised PCGS didn't grade it...a little surprised, not a lot.

I am aware of at least 2 more examples which have been found in the last year, and some people don't share their examples in the census or elsewhere.
That said, it is still extremely rare, but may some day have a pop of ~25

As for the rim damage, the raw pic shows it MUCH more clearly, and I don't have a problem with it in its current holder!
