Should PSA allow more types of Team Sets?

I tried to start an '80 OPC Braves set last night, but got a nice note back explaining that only Topps and Bowman team sets are currently allowed. Anyone have a view on this? I can't think of why 70's and 80's OPC sets wouldn't be allowed, given the popularity of some of those sets...

Im not into team sets, but, I think if you hold on to them and let you know of your intrest every
so often, they will let them in. Its probably because of lack of intrest(at least on their end). Just
    my 2 cents.

  • I don't see why they wouldn't allow them????
  • Last summer I decided to request a set of rookie cards of all players that appeared in a playoff game for the 1992 World Series champion Toronto Blue Jays. I was told that yes this was possible but I needed to have five of the cards in my possession to put an official request in. I grabbed five of the cards from 4SC then submitted my request. I was told no those type of sets were not allowed. I argued, but got absolutely nowhere. Then a few months later I noticed there was a set for rookie cards of all the players from the Canadian Gold Medal 2010 Olympic hockey team. Seemed to be the same type of idea I wanted to go with for the Blue Jays set. I requested it again and was again rejected. I argued and again got nowhere.

Months later I decided to email Joe Orlando (PSA president or CEO or some other big shot title like that) about it. He said there was no way that set should have been denied and asked me who it was that denied it. By this time I had junked all the correspondence I had so I had no clue who I had talked to. A week later I put in the set request and it sailed through no problem. I've also managed to get the 1993 Blue Jays set added.

My point is, they don't always seem to be on the same page when it comes to starting up new sets on the registry.
