A STAR DINGER TO BLOCK (if you are into that sort of thing)

Bidder bought a BRAND NEW PSA STORAGE BOX from us. We delivered the same thing (purchased NEW from PSA and never used)....bidder star dinged one star saying "ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED). Not sure how much better we could have made it?? Maybe wrapped it in gift wrap with a pretty red bow??

ANyway here is the bidder....

I don't have much love for star dingers who leave glowing feedback yet make up things and ding stars. Not that it matters anyway, as I am not striving for discounts, as I don't offer returns. Just a matter of pricipal.

I am confused about the star thing. How does it matter if he gave you 4 instead of 5 on one sub-category? Was it positive overall?

I don't think calling out this particular bidder as someone to avoid just because he gave you one less star makes much sense...?

How can you find out the number of stars left by a bidder? I thought that was confidential.

He left a 1...not a 5.........it is easy to figure out who does it....you just have to follow logic and deduction.

This thread is a good example of how broken Ebay feedback is, sellers getting all knotted up about not getting 5 stars on all items and in turn asking others to block the buyer. As if every transaction we do outside of Ebay is 100% perfect on every metric.

Just defies logic as to how an item was listed and sold as BRAND NEW, and delivered as BRAND NEW could be not as described. Why do you think that should fall on the seller, who did nothing wrong, as opposed to a buyer, who has no idea how the star feedback system works, or used it in a malicious manner?

PS - I don't HAVE to have all 5's. I have gotten numerous 4's and would not get bent out of shape over a 3. If you get a one or two however, Ebay will kick you off from selling on the site. Yes, the feedback system is broken, and not in the sellers favor.

Personally, I wouldn't make a thread about blocking someone over this but I do understand where Bobby is coming from. I would feel slighted as well.

I ship all of my auctions either the same day or the next. Mostly it's the same day. Yet, my shipping time is 4.9 instead of 5. In my mind, there is no reason why it should be lower than 5. Where else will you get an item shipped the same day or next for $3.00?

Also, the "shipping time" category should be changed to "how quickly was the item shipped". We can't control how long it takes for the item to arrive to the buyer. Once it's mailed it's out of our hands. Buyers should base the rating they would leave on when the item was paid for against the date the shipping label or the stamp says it was shipped.

Just figured out you can do a report and get detailed numbers. I had only looked at the stars before.
Oddly enough, my lowest rating was 4.96 and was in shipping costs where I lose money on that all the time and even offer free shipping on higher dollar sales.

Best not to worry about it. Occasionally someone will ding you where you don't deserve it.

Although I don't always agree with Bobby, on this we are on the same side. I get a % 20 discount on my fees and all it takes is three idiots to give you ones (1's) in 3 months and goodbye discount, May not sound much to you, but for me it is a significant amount a month...Period. Has never happened to me yet, but have had Two 1's in 3 months one time, both for absolutely nothing!!
