2013 Topps Baseball observation

I may be way, way behind the 8-ball on this, but, as I sorted the cards tonight, I noticed that Topps numbered the cards from 2-60 according to the player's uniform number! No 23 or 42, but how cool! Jeter is #2, Lincecum #55, etc.

Did anyone (everyone) else catch this?

Had they...or any company, in any sport...ever done that before?

They've done it with Mantle for sure and I'm guessing others. It used to the be the 100s for big names but I guess they mix it up now.

I noticed it with a number of players, but did not look at the cards in order...I'm surprised Rickie Weeks wasn't used for 23 since he is in the set.

The Turkey Red set has has Jeter matched with it's card number 2. I believe that was the only one though so maybe that was just coincidence.
