cards stuck together

Ripping some 90s SPs and Playoff boxes, and these cards tend to stick together and then both cards get ruined. Is there any way to avoid this? I seem to remember someone mentioning a freezer, but they might have been joking.

Any recommendations?

I put them in the freezer then after you take them out try to push on the edges of the cards to break them loose. If you try pulling them apart one at a time they still stick, but you can try it this way it worked for me.
When it works right you can feel the cards come loose just hold the stack with you fingers wrapped around both side and try to shift the stack.

I'm running into the same thing with some 94 Playoff boxes. Cards have been in freezer for a few days and remain stuck. Any other recommendations?

    Thanks,

  • I once bought several boxes of 1991 Stadium Club football for a rip and had the same issue. I actually did the opposite of freezing, laying the packs out in the sun for a little bit and then ripping them while they were still warm. It helped greatly, but didn't completely stop them from sticking.

I'm not sure if this will work or not with the other issues because I haven't tried it with them.

First thing I thought of when I saw the title of the thread was Bench Warmer cards. Need to get my mind out of the gutter.

I just had this experience with three boxes of 1993 Upper Deck Series 2. Those poor Jeters... stuck in a solid tomb of heavy gloss. I don't want to go after the ebay seller, because for me it's just the nature of the beast. Had the same problem with 1994 Topps sets and 1993 Fleer Excel. Brutal.
