As long as it's sealed? It's a mystery - and worthy of coveting.

There might be a perfect Jordan in there and then again?

I just ripped two PSA 8 packs recently, but I also have A lot of PSA 9 packs in my collection, so I felt I wasn't risking anything. I pulled a Jordan stickernout of one my packs (maybe PSA 8). The restnof the cards in both packs were pretty O/C. That sucked, but nothing beats the thrill of opening a 86 Fleer pack.

I would have torn that puppy up.

  • Rip it -- rip it good.

Packs were made for ripping, cards were made to be seen.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the PSA 10 collector he didn't exist.

It's an expensive roll of the dice. I've never been a fan of ripping vintage packs like that. The value is in the mystery.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

The one caveat about ripping a graded 86-87 BKB pack is that since boxes were sequenced, a person who knows that the Jordans have been pulled can grade the remaining packs knowing that Jordan is almost impossible to pull, and though the packs are technically authentic, they wouldn't offer the opportunity you'd hope for to pull a Jordan RC.

  • I decided to keep it sealed.

At this point, in my view, the benefits of keeping an 86 baskeball wax pack sealed far outweigh the benefits of opening. Odds are you will not make your money back on the pack unless you pull a Jordan or a high valued 10. But that is just my view. To each his own!

What's the going rate these days for a fresh 86/87 ungraded pack (BBCE)? I feel like opening one needs to go on the bucket list.
