Question on COMC - do 80's and early 90's rc sell?

I have a mish-mash of cheaper 80's rookies (ie Morten Anderson, Roger Craig, up through Mark Price, etc) as well as some early 90's rookies (ie Webbers, Shaqs, etc). Most of this stuff is almost assuredly less than $10 (and closer to $1-$3) raw each save for a few. Is it worth sending these to COMC? Will they just collect dust, or do people look for stuff like this out there as well? Any help appreciated. Obviously i wouldn't be looking for 100% book or anything.

At the right price they'll move fast.

Last summer I sent in a bunch of rookie cards of Griffey Jr, Chipper, Bagwell, Ivan Rodriguez, Thome, etc, and they moved fast. I also made sure I had the lowest prices, which were still pretty nice. That's an awesome place to move low-dollar items that simply aren't worth the time to sell on Ebay.

The submission fees are kinda high at 25 cents a pop. Last year during the national they had a "$50/550 count box" submission special that I jumped on. I hope they do that again.

what I usually do before I send cards in, is look at the current inventory and prices. A lot of that kind of stuff isn't really worth sending in, because there are already several dozen available and the lowest priced ones are super low.

The stuff I've had the most success with on COMC are hard to find oddball issues and serial numbered refractor cards.

Plus if you cash out they take 20% off of the top. So if you sell a card for $3, it costs you 25 cents to submit, plus your shipping costs, plus 20%, so you will have fees and shipping of around 90 cents on a $3 card, 70 cents on a $2 card, 50 cents on a $1 card, 35 cents on a 50 cent card. If your cards don't sell well and you need to blow them out you will be lucky to break even.

The nice thing is all you have to do is box them up and send them in. No scanning or listing is needed on your part.

A great way to avoid this is to just spend the COMC money on more cards.

Yeah, heard that is the best use of any sales.
Thanks for the input...think I will try them out and see what happens. Thanks, all!

There's also a $20 credit for first time sellers. Just email their support and they will send you a code.

    Yeah, remember to do that.

I found out about the credit AFTER my first batch was loaded on the site. I called them up and asked if I could still get the credit since I didn't know about it the first time, and they said "no."

Oh - that's good to know. Once I get my order put together I will ask them about it. Thanks, Rerun!

I'm going to have to be honest - I don't know what COMC is?

COMC = Check Out My Cards.

    http://COMC.com

It's an on-line card market where you send in your own cards and they handle the scanning and storage. You just set a price and wait for someone to buy it.

    Thank you.

  • Does anyone who sells on COMC know if parallel cards sell well there? For example, 1994 or 1995 Pinnacle Museum or 1997 Flair Row 0
