Capped Bust Half Help

sniocsusniocsu Posts: 1,286 ✭✭✭
A few days ago I was at the local B and M and came across an 1808 Capped Bust half in F15 - VF20. I didn't buy it due to the asking price. I did notice that there was a large obverse crack from the rim in front of liberty to her forehead. Since this is not my usual focus, I was hoping some of the more informed members of the forum could tell me which Overton variety this is and if it is a desirable one.
Thank you in advance and Happy Easter

    Possibilities ...

    O-102a, R2 (most likely)
    O-107a, R2
O-110a, R4+ (crack is from star 7 to bridge of nose)

Could be 106a (off the top of my head)
Neat arching crack from rim across the back of the portrait.

Oops, read the description wrong...definitely check if its 110a.
There are a couple pics on a recent thread on R3 or rarer bust halves.

I think it is O-107a according to the poster's description "a large obverse crack from the rim in front of liberty to her forehead". Check them all out on CoinZip. If you have not yet enrolled, best enroll now. This final coin attribution should be an easy one.

First thing I thought when I read your post was O.110a (which is R4+, and would be worth picking up), but then I looked at other DMs and I think you more accurately described O.107a (only an R2, variety wouldn't command a premium).

Here's the diagnostic crack for 107a

    And this is 110a
