Coins in Movies - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - Moidores

"Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" was the second of the "Indiana Jones" films
starring Harrison Ford as a 1930's archaeologist and adventurer.

Early in the film, some coins appear on a table, they are based on Portuguese gold Moidores.
Moidores circulated in the American colonies and were favorites of pirates.

Buy you a beer if you can tell me what kind of coin Charlie Bucket finds in the gutter in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
We are like children who look at print and see a serpent in the last letter but one, and a sword in the last.

I remember the nightclub scene, but not there having been coins in it.

I always thought this was a rather dumb movie, even allowing for the usual over-the-top, comic-book-ey attitude of most of the Indiana Jones films. I watched it in the movie theater with my high school friend. Actually, I was a year or two out of high school by then. This movie came out, what... 1985, was it?

Good job of scoping out the coins and ID-ing the source design. I wouldn't have been able to do it, based on what we see in these screenshots. I would have assumed they were the "Spanish 8-escudo cob" type replicas one finds in Florida tourist shops and anywhere there's a pirate theme going on.
