Picked up my first Vintage Packs

Picked these up and was thinking about bringing them with me to a local show that PSA will be at in a couple of weeks. I'm looking to grade them more for protection than resale but if they were to get a high grade I may contemplate moving them. Here are scans of them. Just wondering as far as grading goes does the gum as a whole or in pieces make an impact on the pack grade?

Congrats on getting into the game. Just curious about where you got them from and how you approached making sure they were legitimate.

Congrats. They look good to me, but im no expert. I dont think gum being broke hurts the grade, but an not sure about that. Biggest concern about the gum is poking holes in package. Someone else that knows more will hopefully chime in.

Got them off of Ebay. Person has been selling older packs for the last several months supposedly sellling them off for a family member. All the feedback had been positive so I thought I would take a chance. Plus I figure if I can get PSA to look at them at the show in 2 weeks and they don't check out ok I could always return them. They were offering lots of packs from the 70's and early 80's. Lots of rack packs with stars showing.

  • nice packs - my favorites. look like 7's to me but will be nice to slab them.
not sure you will get an onsite grading at the show - and pack subs take a couple months usually.
    good luck either way.

Yeah, PSA doesn't authenticate the packs that get submitted so unless Steve Hart is there I doubt you'd be able to get any info out of them. They would just be there to accept your sub and then ship them off to Steve.

I wish you the best though. Buying unslabbed vintage packs on ebay is like playing Russian roulette with only one empty chamber.
