In my most recent submission I sent in some raw Mike Tyson cards to get graded so I could start a PSA registry set. I am not sure if I will try and get all of the cards but I do plan to continue to add to the set.
I looked up a few days ago the 1991 Victoria Boxing Champions set and found there are three that are required for the master set.
I check EBAY everyday looking for new Mike Tyson listings and came across this card. I checked the pop report and there are only two graded PSA 10 from all three. There are 12 Mike Tyson cards from this set graded in total.
At this time there are 58 Muhammad Ali cards from the set graded with 22 of those achieving a Gem Mint grade. I realize Ali has a much larger collecting base but it seems a little odd that there are so few Tyson examples graded relative to Ali.
I went ahead and purchased the card and I am curious if anyone knows anything about this issue. It doesn't appear they are very expensive in general but I figured it was worth buying for the price.

As far as any comparison to Ali (or any fighter pre-1975) by a modern fighter it's no competition. Boxing cards just simply weren't made much post-1980. Even the 70s saw a massive dip compared to the 1950s-1960s, as boxing became less and less popular both in the US and worldwide. While there isn't much for Ali from the US in the 1960s, he certainly had global appeal and foreign countries were still putting boxers in their multi-sport sets. The real boom for boxing cards was the 1920s-30s and it slowly decreased from there.
I love that you're going to give the Tyson registry some love and care. I did the same thing with the Dempsey registry when I first started on that about 6 years ago. They had the bare minimum for cards listed and they even combined The Manassa Mauler and The Nonpareil. How one makes that mistake is beyond me. Good luck, hopefully this turns into your own personal Tyson thread as I think it would be cool to follow along with your progress.
I have no interest in the other items from the set and the guarantee of a Gem Mint grade vs. buying a few sets and taking my chances sending them in is worth it to me.
The cards do not look very condition sensitive and your response makes since.
Here is my Tyson set that I am working on. I need to scan this one in and my UK variation. It is on the wall in one of my cases and it is a pain to take down and will get to it soon.

Quite frankly I was shocked too it was not listed for more judging by how 4SC lists low pop cards.
They list cards from the 1985 Topps WWF set that are low pop for $300 that would be lucky to sell for $50.
This is is obviously a relatively inexpensive purchase but the buyers philosophy fits Boopoots description of cards to invest in. There cost was probably $7 or less and they sold it to a collector for $50 who was not price sensitive and had no pricing data to go by other then what I thought it was worth to me.
